How can we ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies in education empower all learners while respecting culture, identity and diversity?
Join us for the online guest lecture, ‘Bridging Technology and Culture: Reimagining Inclusive Education in the Age of AI’, delivered by Dr Murni Sianturi from the University of New South Wales, on Friday, 8 May 2026, from 1:45pm to 3:45pm (Jakarta time).
As AI continues to reshape education, this session will explore both its opportunities and challenges. While digital technologies can enhance learning, personalise education and expand access, they can also unintentionally reinforce existing inequalities if not designed with cultural and social contexts in mind.
Drawing on her research in Indonesia and Australia, Dr Sianturi will share real-world examples of how educational technologies are used in schools and communities. She will highlight how culturally responsive teaching, home–school partnerships and Indigenous and multicultural perspectives can shape more inclusive learning environments.
Through interactive discussion and case studies, participants will gain practical insights into designing AI-enhanced education that promotes equity, respects cultural diversity, and responds to the lived realities of students. This lecture invites educators, policymakers, and students to envision a digital education ecosystem that not only teaches through technology but also teaches with empathy, respect and cultural understanding.
Indonesian graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions are especially encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via this link by Wednesday, 6 May 2026. Due to limited availability, early registration is recommended. A link to the event will be shared upon registration.
