Are you a mid-career professional working in foreign policy, defense, security, peacebuilding, research, or civil society? The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through Australia Awards in Indonesia, invites applications for the Australia Awards Short Course on ‘Conflict Prevention: Approaches and Tools for Maintaining Peace in the Indo-Pacific’.
This short course aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to support conflict prevention efforts and contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Delivered under the Australia–Indonesia Partnership for Peace and Stability, the course reflects the shared commitment of Australia and Indonesia to reducing the risk of conflict, strengthening ASEAN-led regional cooperation, and advancing the implementation of the 2026 Jakarta Treaty (Treaty on Common Security).
Participants will explore key policy concepts and practical tools for conflict prevention, including regional security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific, preventive diplomacy, early warning approaches, and the roles of government, civil society and regional institutions in maintaining peace. Learning will be delivered through expert-led discussions, case studies, peer learning, and engagement with Australian and regional practitioners to strengthen participants’ capacity to apply learning within their respective institutions and sectors.
This fully funded course consists of a three-day Pre-Course Workshop in Indonesia, a two-week course in Australia, and a three-day Post-Course Workshop in Indonesia.
