Celebrating Alumni Impact and A Decade of Partnership in Eastern Indonesia
The Australian Alumni Gala Dinner in Makassar, held on 24 January 2026, brought together Australian Alumni, partners and invited guests to celebrate impact, connection and a shared commitment to development in South Sulawesi.
The event recognised outstanding alumni for their contributions to South Sulawesi and provided opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing, including a showcase of Australian alumni-owned and managed businesses.
The Gala Dinner also marked the launch of the 10-year anniversary campaign of the Australian Consulate General in Makassar, celebrating a decade of engagement in strengthening relations between Australia and Indonesia across Eastern Indonesia. The evening also served as a moment to farewell Deputy Consul-General Ms Philippa Armstrong, marking the completion of her assignment in Makassar and recognising her contribution to strengthening people-to-people links in the region.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Australian Alumni Awards – South Sulawesi, presented by Australian Consul-General Mr Todd Dias, recognising four inspiring alumni:
Dr Mernawati, S.IP., M.Si: Collaboration Partnership Award
Dr Muhammad Roem, S.STP., M.Si: Emerging Leader Award
Prof. Apriana Toding, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., PhD: Innovation Award
Dr Ariella Hana Sinjaya, S.Pd., M.Div., M.H: Community Impact Award
We extend our sincere appreciation to all Australian Alumni, partners, and guests who joined us for this special evening, including MC Aida Gunawan, performers from the Marege Institute and DJ Adin, who helped make it memorable.
