How is artificial intelligence shaping the creative industries and their future?
Join the online guest lecture, ‘The Impact of AI on the Creative Sector’, delivered by Professor Oliver Bown, from the University of New South Wales, on Friday, 14 August 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm (Jakarta time).
In this lecture, Professor Bown will explore artificial intelligence as a rapidly emerging force within the creative industries. Drawing on research and real-world examples, he will examine how AI is reshaping creative practices across art, music, film and literature, as well as its implications for artistic labour, authorship and cultural value.
Professor Bown will also discuss key issues such as copyright and ownership, revenue distribution, platformisation and the growing influence of AI-driven systems on cultural consumption. The session will reflect on lessons from previous digital transformations and highlight the importance of timely and thoughtful policy responses to ensure that innovation supports creativity, diversity and fairness across the creative sector.
