We are proud to see our #OzAlum actively contributing to addressing gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) in climate action, collaborating with fellow Australian alumni across the Indo Pacific region.
Over 150 alumni from across the region gathered in Manila, Philippines, for the 2nd Regional #GEDSIAlumni Leadership Summit on 9-10 September 2024, hosted by the Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program – Philippines (AAAEP-P). This year’s theme, “GEDSI-liency: A Collaborative Journey towards Inclusive Climate Action,” featured inspiring talks from GEDSI champions and insightful learning trips to alumni-led initiatives across the region.

The Summit also featured a Social Impact Exhibit showcasing best practices in inclusion and resilience. Highlights from Indonesian enterprises and projects included:
A special shoutout to Ms. Hana Septiana, News Correspondent at TEMPO and Secretary of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Surabaya. She found the summit invaluable for networking and gaining new insights, which she plans to utilise to shape future GEDSI projects at Radio Braille Surabaya and learnings to shape future GEDSI projects at Radio Braille Surabaya.
