Enhancing Website Accessibility
Australia Awards in Indonesia (AAI) is committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible online experience for all users. In line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards, our website incorporates features and functions designed to enhance accessibility.
As part of our efforts, we have partnered with EqualWeb, a leading AI-powered web accessibility solution, to ensure ongoing compliance with accessibility standards through regular assessments.
Key Accessibility Features
As of 1 January 2025, we have implemented several measures to improve the accessibility of our website:
1. Closed Captioning and Volume Control for Videos
All videos on our website now include closed captioning and volume control options to assist users with hearing impairments. Videos provided by external partners are exempt from this feature.
2. Operating System and Browser Compatibility
Our website is designed to work on the following operating systems and browsers:
- Operating Systems: Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger and higher, Windows 7 and higher.
- Browsers: Google Chrome (version 49 or later), Microsoft Edge (version 15.15063 or later), Safari (version 10 or later), Mozilla Firefox (version 54 or later).
Note: As of 15 June 2022, the Internet Explorer browser is no longer supported by Microsoft. Users can access the Australia Awards in Indonesia website, and its accessibility features through the supported browsers listed above.
3. EqualWeb Integration
The EqualWeb Auto AI Accessibility Widget has been integrated into our website to provide users with disabilities a seamless browsing experience. Accessible via the accessibility symbol on our website, this widget offers a user-friendly interface with advanced features to cater to diverse needs.
How the EqualWeb Auto AI Widget Works
The Auto AI Accessibility Widget is designed to accommodate users with a wide range of disabilities through three main adjustment categories:
- Navigation Adjustment: Helps users with blindness, motor impairments, epilepsy, and others navigate pages effectively using simple clicks, voice commands, or keyboard inputs.
- Colour Adjustment: Supports users with visual impairments, including colour blindness, by allowing customisation of colour schemes to suit their needs.
- Content Adjustment: Enables customisation of text, such as font scaling, line spacing, and highlighting headings, to improve readability and usability.
In addition, the widget supports Accessibility Profiles, allowing users to select a pre-configured profile tailored to their specific needs (e.g., "Blindness" or "Dyslexia"), simplifying the adjustment process.
Comprehensive Features
The widget offers a total of 32 functions to enhance accessibility, including:
- Screen readers and image descriptions for blind users.
- Dictionary and reading guides for users with dyslexia.
- Adjustable font sizes, styles, and line spacing for enhanced readability.
- Multilingual support in 41 languages to ensure global accessibility.
These features align with WCAG 2.2 guidelines at the AA+ level, ensuring our website is inclusive and accessible to all.
A Flexible and Accessible Website for All
Australia Awards in Indonesia strives to build a flexible, user-friendly website that caters to users with different needs or preferences. We aim to ensure accessibility across various technologies, including mobile devices and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
While AAI is committed to meeting accessibility guidelines, we acknowledge that some parts of the website may not fully comply. We will continue working closely with the Organisation of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) to conduct accessibility testing and implement improvements throughout the program's lifecycle.
