Are you a policymaker, practitioner or academic working in social protection, livelihoods, or economic empowerment? The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through Australia Awards in Indonesia, invites applications for the Australia Awards Short Course on Social Protection and Community Empowerment – Strengthening Indonesia’s Pathways to Inclusive and Resilient Growth.

This short course is designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in advancing inclusive, adaptive and lifecycle-based social protection approaches that support community empowerment and resilient livelihoods. As Indonesia continues to address poverty, inequality and vulnerability to economic and climate shocks, the course will explore integrated policy and program approaches that connect social assistance, employment, financial inclusion and sustainable livelihood strategies.

Participants will engage with evidence-based frameworks and learn from Australian and regional best practices in social protection, economic empowerment and community resilience. Through case studies, peer learning and expert-led discussions, the course will examine how cross-sector coordination and innovative policy design can improve access to labour markets, microbusiness opportunities, skills development and income-generation programs.

The course consists of a three-day Pre-Course Workshop in Indonesia, a two-week course in Australia, and a three-day Post-Course Workshop in Indonesia. Delivered by leading experts, the program will include workshops, case studies, site visits, simulations and networking opportunities with relevant Australian institutions. Participants will also develop an Award Project to apply their learning and support improvements within their organisations.

We strongly encourage women from disadvantaged backgrounds and people with disabilities to apply. Apply online via this link no later than 30 April 2026 at 23.59 WIB. For more details, please visit this page.
