Project Rationale:
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected maternal health services in primary health care. Services which were provided by Puskesmas in collaboration with community health workers (CHWs) or health cadres in villages have been paused or limited and even been restricted in some areas. This situation has increased psychological problems among pregnant and postpartum mothers who even before pandemic were at risk of experiencing loneliness, lack of support, depression and anxiety. At the same time, CHWs cannot provide assistance to mothers since they cannot arrange routine health checks through Posyandu. Mothers need mental health support to overcome their psychological problems and that needs to be conducted using safe media. Meanwhile CHWs need knowledge and skills to assist mothers in the mental health area and in new media.
Project Beneficiaries:
200 pregnant and postpartum mothers and 50 CHWs in the online psychosocial class, 50 CHWs in the online supervision group to CHWs, and 15 mothers in the four-session online group counselling for mothers in need.
Priority Development Area:
Human development for a productive and healthy society
