Aus4ASEAN: Australia Awards Initiative for Future-Ready ASEAN Workforce
Nearing the end of 2023, Australia Awards held three Short Course programs under Aus4ASEAN, focusing on studies concerning the labour market and technology.
Aligning with the current global condition, the courses also address increasingly relevant issues, including the benefits and threats that Artificial Intelligence brings to labour forces.
Specifically tailored for scholars and its technical and vocational education training (TVET) stakeholders in the ASEAN region, the courses provided subjects on digital readiness and resilience, green skills, and forecasting the fourth industrial revolution.
For two weeks, the course participants from various backgrounds, such as academics, government officials, and entrepreneurs, gathered in Australia to study the challenges posed by disruptive technologies and the need to enhance productivity and job creation.
The Aus4ASEAN complements ASEAN's Vision 2045 and the labour market objectives, emphasising the potential for a strong partnership between Australia and ASEAN in fostering economic growth and stability.
Furthermore, the Short Courses held in Australia aligns with the ASEAN TVET Council Regional Policy Dialogue and emphasise the significance of labour market information systems (LMIS) in the development agenda.
Labour migration and the need to upgrade workforces with 21st-century skills are prominent considerations in the ASEAN labour market, and the short courses support these objectives.
