It was a delight to see technical staff from the National Planning and Development Ministry (BAPPENAS), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and other relevant government agencies recently attended the Post-Course Workshop in Semarang for the Australia Awards Short Course on Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy: Supporting Indonesia's Research and Innovation Agenda.
This short course, funded by KONEKSI and delivered by Griffith University, empowered participants to develop and formulate policies addressing emerging priorities and promoting innovation across various sectors. During the event, the Australian Consul-General in Surabaya, Mr Glen Askew, commended the alumni for their dedication and highlighted the program’s crucial role in fostering innovation and collaboration between institutions. A key highlight of the workshop was the participants’ visit to the "Tide Eye" project—an AI/IoT-powered airborne system designed for monitoring water levels and tidal floods along the north coast of Central Java. This innovative project is a practical example of how research and technology can support Indonesia's research and innovation agenda by addressing real-world challenges.
Congratulations to the participants on completing the course and joining the Australia Awards alumni network! We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
