Menjembatani Keuangan dan Keberlanjutan: Pelajaran dari Studi Singkat Australia Awards

From 25 to 27 February 2025, representatives from government institutions, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), thinktanks and private sector gathered in Jakarta for the Post-Course Workshop of the Australia Awards Short Course on Sustainable Finance in Indonesia: Transforming Challenges into Opportunities.

Delivered by the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney, this dynamic short course explored the untapped opportunities of Indonesia’s sustainable finance agenda, including the use of green taxonomy and disclosure standards. By exploring case studies and best practices, the course initiated deeper engagement between Indonesian and Australian agencies, paving the way for stronger partnerships. In her opening remarks, Ms Lauren Sewell, First Secretary for the Economic Governance at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, highlighted the significance of these themes in supporting Indonesia’s sustainable development goals.

A key highlight of the workshop was a site visit to PLTA Bengkok in Bandung, West Java. Operating for over a century, this hydropower plant has an impressive capacity of 3.85 Megawatts (MW), providing clean energy to the region. The visit offered participants firsthand insights into the benefits of renewable energy investments and efficient capital allocation.

The workshop also provided a valuable networking platform, particularly during an engaging networking dinner hosted by the Australian Embassy in Jakarta. The Embassy warmly welcomed participants and alumni from the climate and energy short course programs, offering an opportunity to reconnect, expand professional networks and engage in meaningful discussions to advance Indonesia’s climate and energy transition.

The post-course workshop concluded with participants presenting their award projects, showcasing their commitment to driving sustainable finance initiatives.

Congratulations to all participants on completing the course and joining the Australia Awards alumni network! We look forward to their contributions in shaping a more sustainable and resilient financial future for Indonesia.
