Project Objective :

  • To promote a collaborative sharing decision making for Wasur National Park management based on contemporary and traditional knowledge as a main consideration.

  • To design effective management programs/ activities using participatory approach

Project Description:

The project would promote an implementation of co-management in Wasur. A sharing decision making is encouraged to apply. This is a scheme where the indigenous is involved in park management at the same level. A sharing decision making enables the locals to work together with the park authority in managing PA. The combination of contemporary management ruled by the MoEF and traditional knowledge of the locals would be the main ingredients for co-management implementation. Hence, the collaboration of internal entities will strengthen the position of Wasur National Park from inside. Later, the external threats can be minimized as the co-management has been effectively implemented.

Project Beneficiaries:

Park management and indigenous people
Other entities who have interests at Wasur National Park, especially the Ministry of Environment and Forestry as the project in Wasur can be pilot project for other Protected Areas (PAs)
