Light the Mind: A Game-based Workshop to Raise Youth Mental Health Literacy in NTT

Project Objective :

  1. To conduct development workshop with experts and through game trial to develop learning kit to increase mental health literacy in Bandung. The kits consist of board game and interactive module,

  2. To conduct Focus Group Discussion (FGD) targeted 3 different groups (teachers, students and government officials).

  3. To conduct Training of Trainer (ToT) targeted 3 different groups (teachers, students and government officials).

  4. To conduct workshop to 40 senior high school students about mental health literacy.

  5. To provide tools (board game and interactive modules) to promote and enhance mental health literacy program targeting youth in Kupang.

Project Description:

The project aims to enhance youth mental health literacy in Kupang by implementing a game-base learning approach. This approach is also designed to motivate active participation and enhance the capability of teacher and mental health community to promote mental health literacy targeting youth in Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur.

The project consists of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Training of Trainer (ToT) and game-based learning workshop. Focus Group Discussion and Training of Trainer (ToT) will target 30 participants from 3 different groups, consist of 10 teachers, 10 students and 10 government ofificials. The game-based learning workshop will target 40 senior high school students with ToT participants acts as the facilitators.

A pre-test and a post-test will be conducted to measure the participants level of mental health literacy before and after the workshop. The result will be used to refine the whole approach and presented as research paper/study report. Complete guideline, modules and the board game will be provided for all Training of Trainer participants to make sure they have the capability to expand and continue the program in the future.

Project Beneficiaries:

  1. 40 senior high school students and 30 key persons (teachers, students and government)

  2. 50 youths influenced by each individual from the 30 key persons (1500 youths in total)

  3. 10 students influenced by each individual from the 40 high school students (400 youths in total)
