Are you interested in exploring global progress in maternal health during the Sustainable Development Goal era? Join us for an enlightening online lecture, "Maternal Health in Focus: Global Perspectives and Lessons from Indonesia," by Associate Prof Meghan A Bohren, PhD, MSPH, Dr Rana Islamiah Zahroh, PhD, MPH, and Alya Hazfiarini, MPH from The University of Melbourne. This insightful session will occur via Zoom on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Jakarta time).
During the Sustainable Development Goal era, global progress in maternal health has stalled, with significant inequalities in maternal mortality persisting across regions, countries, and even within those regions. In this lecture, we will examine the current state of global maternal health, highlight key challenges, and explore potential strategies to drive progress.
We will then focus on two maternal health issues in Indonesia: the rapidly rising rates of caesarean sections and the quality of maternal care. We will discuss the portrayal of caesarean sections in Indonesian social media and how this might influence the increased use of this medical procedure. Lastly, we will review lessons learned from the provision of maternal care during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia and how these can be applied to improve maternal care quality in the future.
Calling all graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions from Indonesia interested in exploring global progress in maternal health and learning from the Indonesian context! RSVP using this link to secure your spot by Monday, 5 August. As a token of appreciation for your participation, attendees will receive an e-certificate.
