On 7 September 2024, Jakarta’s Thamrin 10 was transformed into a vibrant stage for the "Gig on the Green," where music, memories, and milestones seamlessly came together. This annual event, designed to welcome new Australian alumni, also featured a special celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Indonesia. Over 500 alumni and friends enjoyed the evening’s festivities, making it a memorable occasion for all. “I want to thank you for being such a wonderful alumni, and every year, we love to celebrate you on Gig on the Green.” The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams PSM, said while opening the event.
Hosted by the dynamic duo of MCs Aldi Tama and OzAlum Mutiara Azka, the atmosphere was electric from the start. Alumni were treated to a captivating lineup of performances that included the beloved Indonesian band Mocca, rising star Maseta, an alumnus himself, and the soulful Australian singer-songwriter, Matthew Ifield.
But the evening wasn’t just about the music—it was about rekindling old friendships, creating new memories, and celebrating the strong ties between the two nations. Alumni explored interactive experiences, with a 360-degree video booth capturing their moments, while others enjoyed the creative flair of face painting and temporary tattoos, posed for the photo competition, or indulged in gourmet delights from alumni-owned food and beverage stalls.
Culinary highlights of the evening included food and beverages from alumni vendors such as St Ali, Kopi Kenangan, Raka Ice Cream, Foodtalk.id, Mangan House Catering, Kebab Turki Baba Rafi, and Meat Emporium Bali, transforming the event into a gastronomic adventure. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these alumni vendors for making the evening both delicious and memorable.
A heartfelt shoutout also goes to our sponsors. Our appreciation goes to Australia’s Qantas Airways and Indonesian companies such as Premier Jatinegara Hospital, Panorama Tour, RiaMiranda, Mangan House Catering, Ecomama, Aquarev, Casita by Elasador, and Kebab Turki Baba Rafi for their generous support.
The 2024 "Gig on the Green" was more than just an evening of entertainment—it was a moment to reflect on the shared history and recognise the contributions of our alumni. Please check out this highlight video to reminisce about the memorable moments from the Gig on the Green Jakarta 2024.
