Shaping the Future of Trade: Indonesia’s Policy Experts Complete Australia Awards Short Course

The Australia Awards Short Course on Trade Policy: Contemporary Issues in International Trade concluded with a dynamic three-day Post-Course Workshop at Four Points by Sheraton, Bandung, from 25–27 February 2025. Delivered by the University of Adelaide’s Institute for International Trade, the workshop brought together 25 trade policy professionals committed to advancing trade negotiations, economic development, and international cooperation.

The workshop began with opening remarks from Chargé d’Affaires, Ms Gita Kamath, accompanied by Ms Ellisa Kosadi, Senior Policy Manager of the Digital Engagement at the Australian Embassy. Also in attendance were two observers from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

Participants reflected on key insights gained from their two-week course in Australia, engaging in discussions on trade agreements, investment policies, and sustainability in trade. Interactive sessions, led by Dr Nathan Gray and Professor Peter Draper, delved into regulatory challenges, digital trade, and policy frameworks shaping the global trade landscape.

A key highlight of the workshop was the Award Project presentations, where participants showcased innovative policy solutions to enhance Indonesia’s trade landscape. Each project underwent a structured feedback session, ensuring practical implementation and long-term impact.

We are excited to see how these trade policy professionals apply their insights to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global economy. Congratulations to all participants on their achievements and their continued success as valued members of the Australia Awards alumni network!
