Join Our Lecture on ‘Climate Change, Housing Affordability and Policy Reform: Insights from Australia’

How is climate change intensifying housing affordability challenges, and what policy solutions can create more resilient and equitable housing systems?

Join us for the online guest lecture, ‘Climate Change, Housing Affordability and Policy Reform: Insights from Australia’, delivered by Professor Chyi Lin Lee from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), with Rossa Turpuk Gabe, PhD candidate at UNSW, on Friday, 24 April 2026, from 1:45pm to 4:10pm (Jakarta time).

This lecture will explore how extreme weather events such as flooding, heatwaves and bushfires are driving up housing costs by damaging infrastructure, constraining supply and increasing insurance premiums in high-risk areas. Drawing on Australian evidence, particularly from New South Wales, Professor Lee will examine how climate-related risks are amplifying existing inequalities in housing access and stability.

The session will highlight integrated policy approaches that connect housing affordability with climate adaptation and resilience, including climate-responsive planning, green financing and targeted support for vulnerable populations. By linking Australian research with global trends, the lecture will offer valuable insights into building housing systems that are affordable, sustainable and socially equitable.

The program will also include a Q&A session, interactive breakout discussions and quizzes.

Indonesian graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions are especially encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via this link by Wednesday, 22 April 2026. Due to limited places, early registration is recommended. Attendees will receive an e-certificate of participation.
