Join Our Lecture on “Global Governance and Gender: Frameworks, Institutions, and Power Dynamics”

How does gender influence global governance frameworks and power dynamics? Join us for an eye-opening online lecture titled “Global Governance and Gender: Frameworks, Institutions, and Power Dynamics” by Dr Maryam Khalid from Macquarie University on Friday, 7 March 2025, from 1:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Jakarta time).

Gender equity is fundamental to effective and inclusive governance. This lecture will explore how ‘gender’ is understood, influenced, and shaped by global governance frameworks, norms, and institutions. Drawing on feminist and postcolonial perspectives, it will examine how major international institutions have incorporated —or failed to incorporate— gender considerations into their policies and structures.

The discussion will also address efforts to transform existing governance frameworks and consider how emerging global challenges, such as climate change and digital governance, are shaping and being shaped by gendered power relations. This lecture aims to foster a deeper understanding of creating more inclusive and effective global governance structures by offering valuable insights for professionals in international relations, development, and policy-making.

This lecture is open to the public, with graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions from Indonesia especially encouraged to participate. Please RSVP using this link on Wednesday, 5 March, to confirm attendance. Attendees will receive an e-certificate in recognition of their participation.
