Call for Expressions of Interest: Become an ILLA Host Institution in 2027

Looking to enrich Indonesian language learning in your classroom? An ILLA Ambassador could bring Indonesia closer to your students!

We are excited to invite Expressions of Interest from Australian schools, universities and language institutions interested in becoming Host Institutions for the First Cohort of the 2027 Indonesian Language Learning Ambassador (ILLA) Program.

The ILLA Program connects Australian institutions with an ‘ambassador’: an Indonesian scholar fully funded by the Australian Government who is currently studying in Australia. Through this program, Australian students have the opportunity to learn Indonesian language and culture through direct interaction with Indonesian scholars, gaining new perspectives on Indonesia and its diverse communities. ILLA Ambassadors can also support teachers and lecturers by complementing classroom activities, contributing to student learning and bringing contemporary Indonesian perspectives into language education.

For Indonesian scholars, ILLA provides an opportunity to engage with Australian schools and universities, working alongside teachers, lecturers and students while gaining first-hand experience of Australian classrooms and communities. Ambassadors can share their knowledge of Indonesian language and culture, develop their teaching experience and build meaningful connections within the local community.
