Join Our Lecture on “Good Governance: A Critical Appraisal”

Are you interested in learning more about good governance? Join our online lecture on Thursday, 23 February, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm Jakarta time and gain insight into the topic with Professor Vedi Hadiz from the University of Melbourne.

Good governance has become a catch-all term that can mean slightly different things to different people.  Moreover, because it is ‘good’, it would be near-impossible to be ‘against’ good governance. But there are specific kinds of assumptions about institution building and institutional change that underlie much of the literature on good governance, whether produced within academia or by international development organisations.  This lecture will assess these assumptions; trace their intellectual origins; describe how they have become manifest in good governance programmes across the world; and how to bring to the fore certain contradictions in the practices of good governance in Indonesia since the onset of democratisation in 1998.

The e-certificate for participation is available. If you are interested in attending this event, RSVP by 21 February at this link. Click here for more information about the online lecture and Professor Vedi Hadiz.
