What an amazing night! On 14 September 2024, Australian Consulate-General Surabaya hosted its very first Gig on the Green at Rustic Market. This year’s event, marking 75 years of Australia-Indonesia diplomatic relations, welcomed over 200 Australian alumni and friends for a night of music and memories. “We deeply value our alumni and want to create events that keep you all connected in a fun and enjoyable way—that’s the spirit of tonight,” said Interim Consul-General in Surabaya, Mr Steve Scott, as he kicked off the event.
Hosted by the energetic MC duo, Ovi Darin and Andre Calvin, the event featured outstanding performances from the popular Indonesian band Klantink, cover band Richcoustic, and soulful Australian singer-songwriter Matthew Ifield, along with a special impromptu performance from our distinguished Alumnus Emil Dardak.
The night wasn’t just about the music; it was about rekindling friendships, making new connections, and celebrating the close ties between the two nations. Alumni enjoyed a range of activities, including a 360-degree video booth, face painting, temporary tattoos, a photo competition, and gourmet treats from alumni-owned food and beverage stalls.
Food and beverage highlights included selections from alumni vendors such as Cleo, Common Grounds, Kopi Kenangan, Meat Emporium Bali, TagoTogo, Ergo Healthy, Cocoro Café, and Gelato from Rustic Market. A big thank you to these vendors for making the evening both tasty and memorable.
We’d also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, including Barby’s Bakery, KX Pilates, Corica Pastries Surabaya, Steaklab, Confit, F45 Training Graha Family and F45 Training One East, JW Marriott Surabaya, Toby’s Estate, Novotel Samator East Surabaya, Common Grounds, and RS Premier Surabaya, for their generous support.
The 2024 "Gig on the Green" was more than just an event—it was a celebration of the lasting ties between Australia and Indonesia, and a tribute to the achievements of our alumni. Be sure to check out the highlight video to relive the standout moments from the night in Surabaya.
