Growing Stronger: 28 New Ambassadors Join ILLA's First Cohort 2025

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of the Indonesian Language Learning Ambassadors (ILLA) program with the launch of its First Cohort 2025. This transformative initiative continues to foster meaningful language and cultural exchanges while strengthening the enduring ties between Australia and Indonesia.

Reflecting on her journey as a previous ILLA Ambassador, Ika Lutfi Alzuhri shared, "Participating in the ILLA Program at the University of Sydney has been an enriching experience that has shaped both my professional and personal growth. Highlights include sharing Indonesian culture and language, gaining intercultural leadership insights, and connecting with diverse peers. I highly recommend this opportunity and look forward to applying these experiences to my community and career."

Originally launched as a pilot school program in early 2024, following the Australia-Indonesia Annual Leaders' Meeting in July 2023, ILLA has now grown significantly. This year, we are proud to welcome 28 new ILLA Ambassadors, who will introduce Indonesia’s rich language, culture, and traditions to 7 schools and 5 universities across Australia.

Among them, Febri Pangestu, one of the newly appointed Ambassadors, expressed his enthusiasm: "Through the ILLA program, I hope to inspire Australian students to explore Indonesia’s traditions and language while refining my teaching, leadership, and cross-cultural communication skills to strengthen Indonesia-Australia relations and support inclusive public health strategies."

These passionate Ambassadors are eager to engage with students and educators, fostering dynamic cultural exchanges that benefit both nations. We look forward to seeing their impact as they embark on this exciting journey. Let’s hear from them in this video!
