The picturesque Sotis Hotel in Kupang provided a breathtaking backdrop as the Australian Embassy Jakarta hosted a memorable Alumni Networking Dinner on 26 July 2023. This event brought together more than 100 Australian alumni in East Nusa Tenggara amidst the stunning beach scenery, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and collaboration.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome from the Australian Deputy Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr Stephen Scott. His opening remarks emphasised the importance of collaborations and alumni networks in shaping a brighter future for Indonesia and Australia.
A significant moment during the dinner was the introduction of Komunitas Alumni Australia di Nusa Tenggara Timur (KOALA), a community initiated by Australian alumna Lumongga Simanjuntak. Established in January 2023, KOALA aims to connect and engage alumni who have pursued their education in Australia, contributing to its members' professional and social growth.
The Alumni Networking Dinner in Kupang is part of the 70 Years Australia Scholarships in Indonesia campaign commemorating seven decades of educational collaboration between the two nations. Throughout 2023, the Australian Embassy and Consulates-General in Indonesia will conduct a series of events to celebrate this historic milestone.
