Heavy rain did not dampen the mood of 1,000 Australian alumni gathered at “SHOUT! The Voice of Oz Alumni” on 19 August 2016 at The Foundry No 8 in Jakarta. They took the chance to reconnect and reminisce over the screening of Favourite Moments in Australia, a showcase of photos from their student days.
Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Mr Paul Grigson opened the night by announcing it would be back next year. “I’m so pleased that you all came along tonight. We are going to do it every year, so please tell your alumni friends that if they didn’t come tonight, they missed out but they will have a chance next year,” he said.
Chef Rinrin Marinka and actor Rianti Cartwright cut a show-stopping cake and cupcakes decorated in red and white to celebrate 71 years of Indonesia’s independence, designed by Dapur Cokelat.
The pace picked up with music by Gamaliel Audrey Cantika, the Jakarta group who began their career as YouTube sensations, and RnB heartthrob Teza Sumendra, a finalist of Indonesian Idol 2006.
Popular MC Daniel Mananta kep the energy high and the crowd enjoyed skateboard and BMX demonstrations and a graffiti art demonstrantion by Hardthirteen.
